Hatha (Balance of Energy)
Practice based on ensuring that a healthy balance in the body is maintained, especially when imbalance has occurred.
Hatha Yoga is essential for Raja Yoga or Patanjali’s guide for the pathway to pure meditation. Hatha is essentially three of the eight limbs e.g. Asana (movement), Pranayama (breath control) and Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses, as in relaxation).
The way yoga practice is taught may vary according to the lineage e.g. Iyengar, Sivananda, Association for Yoga Studies (aYs) with TKV Desikachar.
Most yoga practice contains mental focus, physical work, breathwork, relaxation and meditation.
